This is what makes a good Mercurey...
…plus the art and expertise of each wine-grower.
THE VINEYARD
With its 600 hectares Mercurey is the biggest “communal appellation” in the heart of Burgundy (Meursault: 454 hectares, Beaune: 449 hectares).
THE VARIETIES OF GRAPE
Mercurey wine comes from the two noble Burgundy vines : Pinot Noir for the red, and Chardonnay for the white.
PRODUCTION
Wine from Mercurey can be found throughout the world. Approximately 3,300,000 bottles of red and 400,000 of white are produced every year.
WINE-MAKING
The fruit of centuries of experience in Burgundy to which each and every wine-grower in Mercurey and Saint-Martin-sous-Montaigu adds his own professional touch.
THE SOMMELIER’S RECOMMENDATION
Serve the red wine (14/16°C) with meat and game, the white (12/14°C) with white meat, offal, and pressed cheese.
